Visita virtual interativa ao Museu do Centro Hospitalar do Porto: uma proposta de mediação digital
Abstract
The Museu do Centro Hospitalar do Porto (MCHP), opened in 2013, is a museum of the history of health sciences and institutional memory. As a learning space, the museum aims to contribute to increase knowledge and literacy around health issues, promoting active citizenship. The occurrence of the covid-19 pandemic and the subsequent crisis made more evident the potential of digital technologies in bringing this museum closer to its public. This is the context that triggered the creation of the digital mediation proposal: “Hospital de Santo António 360°: Getting to know 250 years of History and Heritage”. The project, developed in 2020, adopted the format of a virtual visit, accessible from the museum's website, since 2021. In this brief article we contextualise and present the project, its objectives and results. Conceived as an innovative, interactive and sensorial experience, this project contributed to expand access to the collections and museum spaces, and enrich the visitor experience. The project also allowed the MCHP to implement new accessibility features, expanding access to people with disabilities, reinforcing a strategy committed to equal access, social inclusion and democratisation of the cultural offer in the digital space.
