Zarattini et al. confirm the capacity of Lytic Polysaccharide Monooxygenases (LPMO) active on cellulose to trigger immune responses in Arabidopsis. These results bring insight to the field of cell wall modifying enzymes and their roles in plant defense mechanisms.
