Abstract
In Milagro, Guayas Province, Ecuador, a high level of pollution in the river that bears his name is observed, due to the lack of implementation of environmental management systems and prevention, which enable monitoring and proper management of the river and its natural conditions. The generation of waste and effluent discharge, sanitary and industrial especially, is a process that every day increases, causing serious ecological problems, because the places where they are deposited are permanent sources of pollution, it affects vegetation and fauna and, overall, attacks humans and the environment. This paper aims to determine the degree of perception of the public about the levels of environmental pollution in the river Milagro and its degree of preventive social knowledge and identify the main sources of pollution, in order to propose alternatives designed to minimize, prevent and control the polluting effects of the river. The work consists of three phases: Information Gathering, Analysis and diagnosis; population surveys, analysis and tabulation of results; conclusions and recommendations.
