Chronic daily headaches are a group of neurological conditions without a completely understood pathophysiology. In this article, several aspects related to the chronic daily headaches mechanisms, particularly chronic migraine, are discussed including the trigeminovascular system, central sensitization, the periaqueductal gray matter, the hypothalamus, and excitatory aminoacids such as glutamate.
