The paper discusses the experiment aimed at revealing the influence of the verbal context and the translator’s worldview (interior context) on the translation tactics from English into Russian. The methodology of the experiment was that three groups had to translate five sentences: the first group of testees translated separate sentences, the second one translated the same sentences with some indication of the style and the topic of text that the sentence was taken from, and the third group translated passages which included the sentences. Therefore, the translation was based on different kinds of context: on the inner context only, on the exterior non-verbal context, and on the verbal context. The confirmed experiment hypothesis was that different types on context play different roles in the whole system of translation and the integrative role belongs to the translator’s worldview (interior context).
