Contribution to strategy development of lepidopterological research in the Republic of Serbia [insecta: Lepidoptera (Linnaeus, 1758)]

Abstract

The current state of knowledge regarding the representatives of the order Lepidoptera (Linnaeus, 1758) in the Republic of Serbia has been discussed. This paper outlines formal and legal aspects enabling theoretical and practical work in the field of lepidopterology. The personnel and institutional organization have been examined. The necessity of establishing strategies to improve and direct work has been emphasized. Priority directions of work in national lepidopterology are listed.
