A method of 3-D mesoscale objective analysis of wind, temperature and relative humidity fields in the bottom part of the boundary layer from surface observations (SYNOP and SYRED reports) is described. The method is based on the use of different elevations of synoptic stations and is applied to the territory of the Czech Republic with a horizontal grid distance of 32 km. The accuracy of the method was tested comparing the analysed field and both a subset of the synoptic data (a priori excluded from input data set) and climatic data. The method is able to describe details of meteorological fields, especially convergence lines and the structure of horizontal gradients associated with atmospheric fronts.
