In accordance with Article 6 of Regulation (EC) No 396/2005, the United Kingdom, hereafter referred to as the evaluating Member State (EMS), received an application from the United States Hop Industry Plant protection Committee to set an import tolerance for the active substance quinoxyfen in hops. In order to accommodate the authorized use of quinoxyfen on hops in the United States, the EMS proposed to raise the existing MRL from 0.5 mg/kg to 2 mg/kg. The EMS drafted an evaluation report in accordance with Article 8 of Regulation (EC) No 396/2005, which was submitted to the European Commission and forwarded to EFSA. According to EFSA, the submitted residue data are sufficient to support the authorized use in United States and to derive a MRL proposal of 2 mg/kg for quinoxyfen in hops. Based on the risk assessment results, EFSA concludes that the import tolerance of quinoxyfen on hops will not result in a consumer exposure exceeding the toxicological reference value and therefore is unlikely to pose a public health concern.
