Histoplasmosis mimicking a tumor of the thumb in a patient with neurofibromatosis type I: A case report and review of the literature
Abstract
Key Clinical Message We describe an immunocompromised 73‐year‐old male with a history of neurofibromatosis type 1 (NF1) who presented with a lesion on the thumb concerning for malignancy that was found to be histoplasmosis. This unique case highlights the importance of a thorough history and a broad differential diagnosis in the management of new osteoarticular lesions.
