Cinema, Mathematics and Education: a possible dialogue
Abstract
This article presents a literature review about cinema, mathematics and education. It aims to expand the possibilities of mathematics education from the inclusion of cinema in the mathematics debate. It is part of the results of a course completion work to obtain the graduate degree and is developed from a qualitative research approach with bibliographic research methodology on the listed themes. Throughout the search, we identified the low academic production of mathematics education and cinema in Brazilian scientific journals. That is why we proposed to present an approach to cinema, mathematics and education that enables, encourages, and stimulates mathematics teachers to include cinema as a language, in addition to a didactic resource, in the mathematics elementary and high school classroom. The results of the bibliographic survey point to the richness and possibilities of dialogues between cinema and mathematics education, not to mention education in general. Because it is a language that produces and is culturally produced, cinema presents itself as another possibility of dialogue between the concrete world and mathematical knowledge.
