La mémoire des discours – instrument de valorisation des langues et des cultures (I) Le roumain : langue de cœur et de résistance pendant la Grande Guerre
Abstract
Pairing the terms language and culture is, without any doubt, something new if we think of the circumstances ensued from the « planetary awareness era» (cf. Mircea Eliade). Transdisciplinarity has become the « beacon » in this combat between linguistic and cultural investigative perspectives and any combination in terms of research fields leads to an original if not a groundbreaking perspective on the subject of interest. The word memory is multifaceted in French, given its two genres and the different meanings attached to it accordingly. The « discourse memory », defined by Dominique MAINGUENEAU in 2002 (pp. 371-372) in terms of its relations to text, interdiscourse and conservation, can explain the gradual enhancement of knowledge shared by the interlocutors during a verbal exchange. We can thus speak about an « intratextual memory » where a certain discourse refers to another one, a previous one. Consequently, the conceptual pair external memory / internal memory can be applied to any discursive form. In a series of articles (2018), we aim at meeting a new challenge in the field of language sciences with a view to (re)considering the discourse/our discourses as a source of a text seen as a keeper of a nation’s cultural memory.
