Keypoints Sulfated exopolysaccharides (sPS) were extracted from marine green microalgae by the heated acid extraction method. sPS with the higher sulfate/sugar ratio presented potent ABTS radical scavenging activity. Some of the sPS revealed anticoagulant effects in activated partial thromboplastin time (aPTT) and prothrombin time (PT) assays.
