The Importance of Landscape Reinforcement Elements in Urban Identity: The case of Çanakkale Çarşı Street

Abstract

Urban equipment elements should be able to address the needs of users with the changing world. It should be positioned to form a whole with urban identity. In this context, the reinforcement elements in Çanakkale Çarşı Caddesi; building materials, according to their location, purpose and function in the city; it has been studied in terms of ergonomics, aesthetics and functionality. As a result, it was determined that the relation of the area with the reinforcement elements could not be established exactly, the number of plant and reinforcement elements was insufficient, and there were elements that were not maintained and repaired at the same time. For these, in line with the landscape design principles; Design suggestions such as choosing the right material suitable for the work area, increasing the number of reinforcement elements for the needs, and following up the maintenance and repair activities of the reinforcement elements were presented.
