The world population is increasingly aging and the risk of falling is directly related. The objective of this study is to understand the effect of proprioceptive training and postural balance on the elderly for the prevention of falls. Study based on the JBI model. The articles were extracted from the CINAHL, MEDLINE and PEDro databases, written in Portuguese and English, from January 2012 to July 2018, with a population of 65 years and over, with no underlying pathological condition. We included 13 articles that considered training programs and proprioceptive exercises and postural balance, muscular strength, resistance, gait training and the implication about the fear of falling. It was concluded that the implementation of these programs have a positive and significant impact on the prevention of falls. It is considered fundamental to carry out more studies without using technology that benefit the preventive training and preventive postural balance.
