Cycling culture in the Netherlands: Selected cultural, social and political aspects

Abstract

The article will be divided into three parts: the genesis of cycling culture in the Netherlands, a short history of cycling mobility at the turn of the 20th century; cultural, social and political sources of Dutch cycling culture, and new prospects of cycling culture/mobility in the Netherlands. The text is intended to be, among other things, an attempt to find an answer to where the phenomenon of Dutch cycling culture comes from.
