In this paper, we focus on one specific part of a research, presenting here the discussion of the axes of analysis on environmental knowledge of teachers from the early years of elementary school working on three non-urbanized islands of the city of Belem, Para. This is a qualitative research, in the narrative approach, whose data analysis was implemented through discursive textual analysis. We investigated environmental problems experienced by teachers in the unique context of non-urbanized islands where they live and work and the practical environmental knowledge that emerge from the reports of their teaching practices. We used semi-structured interviews, from questions that provoke free narrative. We consider that environment practical knowledge that is based on the valorization of the natural environment, on the development of environmental education actions from the perception of the problems observed, with the goal of intervening in the context and form social-environmentally critical students, as the foundation for the practice of environmental education teachers of the islands studied
