The subject of the Study. The results consideration on the development of scholarly communication in librarianshipresearch, conducted at the Institute of Library Science of the V. I. Vernadskyi National Library of Ukraine, isimportant both in a historical context and in terms of progress in the context of digitalization. The aim of the Study.The purpose of the article is to consider through the historical lense the relevant aspects of the scholarly communicationdevelopment, reflected in modern research projects of the Institute of Library Science of the V. I. VernadskyiNational Library of Ukraine. The research methodology is based on the use of general scientific and special principlesof research, principles of historicism, complexity and objectivity to achieve the goal. The scientific novelty ofthe paper is in the determination of theoretical, methodological and applied preconditions of the scholarly communicationdevelopment of professional environment in scientific projects of the V. I. Vernadskyi National Library ofUkraine. Conclusions. Fundamental and applied research has been conducted in the Institute of Library Sciencethroughout its functioning, aimed at creating theoretical, methodological and applied foundations for the developmentof scientific libraries, including the V. I. Vernadskyi National Library of Ukraine and library science in Ukraine as awhole. The informational and communicational models of research libraries were developed, based on topics of scienceresearch works on departmental programs of the National Academy of Science of Ukraine. In this model,libraries are part of the system of scholarly communication and development of the information society. The researcheson library science were aimed at transforming professional environment of research libraries, which included thedevelopment of scholar communication, intellectual information resources, library and information services, strengtheningpartnerships between libraries, information and educational institutions, establishing interaction with both presentand potential users. The study of the evolutionary development of scientific libraries shows that, combined withthe latest technologies, they act as agents of scholarly communication. Their information and communication workare characterized by a large number of structural links, they are non-linear and multilevel. Its characteristic featuresare the digital environment, the cooperation of scientists, the increase in remote library services and services, whichcreate conditions for the development of communication in the electronic environment.
