Chemical Aspects of the Formation of Highly Hydrophobic Organosilicas
Abstract
A study has been made of organosilicas with long-chain alkyl groups prepared by solid-phase hydrosilylation. The structural and adsorptive characteristics of such modified silicas have been established. The effect of end-capping the residual silanol groups by (CH 3 ) 3 Sil on the hydrophobicity and pore structure of the alkyl silicas has been investigated.
