Vasile Goldiş, President of ASTRA

Abstract

As a president of “ASTRA”, Goldiş worked enthusiastically and skillfully, honoring the names of his predecessors. From his initiative, in 1924, “ASTRA” organized a visit to Bucharest, to similar literary societies, with the purpose of strengthening the Romanian cultural movement, through collaboration and the union of efforts and, also, of establishing a direct contact with the folk music, art, and customs of the Romanian people living beyond the Carpathians, with the nature of those regions, thus tightening the Romanians’ spiritual unity.
