Chasse aux mammifères marins dans le passé
Abstract
We thought whaling was prehistoric in origin, but there was no conclusive evidence. Based on archaeological evidence and context, Scandinavia, the White Sea, the Chukchi Sea, the Sea of Okhotsk, the Korean Peninsula, the Japanese archipelago and the coast of the Atacama Desert are areas where prehistoric whaling may have taken place. Through international comparative research under the theme of "Hunt to Prehistoric Marine Mammals", we can more clearly testify that the sea was an important part of human life in prehistoric times. That’s the whole point of the thematic file we’re proposing in this new issue of Journal Nouvelle de l’archeologie.
