EXPERIMENTAL STUDY ON OSMANİYE DELİHALİL TRASS
Abstract
The puzzolanic and mineralogical properties of some trass materials used by cement factories together with the Delihalil (DH) trass were studied in this paper. Puzzolanicity is still imperfectly understood specific surface and chemical composition are knows to play an important role but since they are inter-related the problem is complex. Both of the standard methods were used for puzzolanic activity. The relationship for the value of 7-28 days with compressive strength connected the lime standards and specific surface has also been developed. The compressive strength of the 7-28 days samples with trass lime blends were also determined. According to the ASTM C 618, samples with 20 % DH trass revealed an increase in the compressive strength compared to the pure Portland cement. The compressive strength of the trass-Portland blends were compared with pure Portland cement samples. The compressive strengths of the 28, 90 and 180 days cement pastes were tested on the specimens containing 10 %, 20 %, % 30 and 40 % trass. Comparative studies revealed the suitability of the DH trass for use in cement production.
