Abstract
In this paper, we propose to follow the issues raised by the current enforcement of “users participation” in French accommodation and social rehabilitation centers (CHRS). The bill 2002-2 does not precisely define this new right for users to “participate”, so three questions arise: What does participation entail? What does it really mean to “make participate” users? What kind of new professional practices does it imply? On many occasions, professionals find themselves perplexed by their own practice and their role in the implementation of participation. Such new procedures shed trouble onto one another’s positions. Henceforth, the exercise of the profession appears as a trial through which occurs a reevaluation of the boundary set between professionals and users positions and their respective ability to act.
