Academic league of medicinal plants: an extracurricular challenge

This study aimed to report the activities developed by the Academic League of Medicinal Plants – LAPLAM (in Portuguese). That alliance has arisen from an attempt to provide activities for both the community and partakers. The pedagogical activities were focused on theoretical and practical classes with the teaching assistant of Pharmaceutical Botany, Pharmacognosy 1 and Pharmacognosy 2, Internship of manipulating herbal medicine and phytocosmetic; research and innovation through Scientific Initiation, performing phytochemical screening, antioxidant and antimicrobial tests; Undergraduate Theses and herbal therapy activities at squares, schools and senior communities in Maceió-AL. During the management of 2017, the first academic league of the Pharmacy course provided knowledge solidification and fulfilled general gaps related to the graduation, making demands on a positive attitude from the undergraduates; teamwork was built, knowledge exchanging with the community and decision-making. LAPLAM brought together the body knowledge and activities related to medicinal plants in a disciplined and integrated group.
