Annual logging symposium of Society of Petrophysicists and Well Log Analysts (SPWLA) is an important platform for international advanced well logging technology communication. Based on the 128 papers exchanged at the 63rd SPWLA annual logging symposium in 2022, we analyze and summarize the latest progress of formation evaluation and logging technology in the past year. This paper introduces the academic papers exchanged at the 63rd SPWLA annual logging symposium from following aspects: automated methods of formation evaluation, core analysis and formation evaluation of conventional reservoir, formation evaluation of unconventional reservoir, specialized measurement technique and interpretation method, and so on. On this basis, the international development trend of logging artificial intelligence, principle logging theory and method, petrophysics experiment, logging while drilling and the development direction of logging technology in China are discussed and prospected.
