Games have always been present in the life of human beings, however, in the Brazilian educational scope, more specifically in the teaching of Chemistry/Sciences, their insertion is recent, and still needs a lot of deepening and development of the theoretical/ epistemological nature. In this sense, it is intended from this work to discuss the importance of culture for games and recreational activities. A research uses elements of the qualitative approach, explored to obtain descriptive data that allow the identification of the cultural elements of the students involved (about 84 students with 8th grade from a public school in the interior of Goiás), both in relation to the school environment as well as familiar, as well as verifying their conception about Science, in order to answer the research question: Do the data collection instruments used in line with the Bourdieusian framework make it possible to understand the culture that students are immersed in? The results made it possible to identify the culture in which students are immersed, as well as their influence on the appropriation of scientific knowledge, since we observed even epistemological obstacles related to scientific knowledge, resulting from cultural elements appropriated by students throughout their lives.
