Preparation and Properties Analysis of One - Component Methyl - Modified Silica Sol

As the silicon - oxygen bond of silica sol is too rigid, it is easy to form microcracks during the film - forming cross - linking process. To overcome this problem, modified silica sol solution was prepared by sol - gel method using silane coupling agent and silica sol as raw materials, and coated on the surface of aluminum plate. The effects of pH value of silica sol, pH regulator type and reaction time on the properties of the above - mentioned silica sol and coating were studied, and the properties of such coating were characterized through Fourier transform infrared (FT - IR) spectroscopy, thermogravimetry (TG) and contact angle analyzer. Results showed that the modified silica sol had stable properties and the coating had a smooth surface, a pencil hardness up to 6 H, a temperature resistance of 500 ℃, a contact angle of 91°, and a good thermal stability.
