Intimate partner violence-IPV is a serious public health problem due to various direct and indirect consequences they bring to the victims and those close to them. This study aimed to know the cur- rent publications, leading researchers, journals, as the term is defined and what types of violence portrayed more, by bibliometric search in the databases Web of Science, PsycINFO, Dialnet, Lilacs and Redalyc, between 2006-2011. There were 426 full papers. Was an increase in publications in recent years: the woman was approached as the main victim in the polls, with few studies that cover the IPV among gay couples. Furthermore, only 19% of the articles define the term, and the physical and sexual violence the main types discussed in the studies.
