In this article, the researcher describes the architecture of St. Thomas Church located in Virapandianpatnam, Thoothukudi District, Tamil Nadu. We come to know that this church is built in the Gothic style of architecture having many of the gothic church structures. Gothic architecture is known to have begun in the western part of France in the 12th century. This architecture entered India through the British, the French and the Portuguese colonization and it was largely imitated in the churches constructed by them in Tamil Nadu. This article describes the architecture of the famous church St.Thomas Church that was built from the earliest times at the arrival of Christianity and the distinctive features of Gothic architecture. It also decodes as well as the Gothic architecture found in the above church.
