This article aims at exploring the author’s own epistemological conceptions, trying to explain them in order to justify her theoretical and methodological options made for her present research project. To this end, in the first part, a series of key terms for the analysis of educational policies (conceived in terms of public policies), particularly when the juridical-normative approach is taken as a reference, are conceptualized. In the second part, this approach is linked to the post-structuralist and neo-institutionalist perspectives, based on the contributions that both can make to the analysis. Third, we present the central aspects of the political analysis of educational legal texts approach, emphasizing its potential as a theoretical and methodological tool for research in educational policies. Finally, an epistemological metareflection exercise is carried out, highlighting some considerations regarding the decisions made for the elaboration of this article.
