Open and endovascular repair of an aneurysmal Hepato-Spleno-Mesenteric trunk
Abstract
Superior mesenteric artery (SMA) aneurysms are rare and often asymptomatic but can have catastrophic disease progression. With anatomical variations of the celiac axis relatively common, management of SMA aneurysms is patient specific. This study reports the open and endovascular management of a 50-year-old female with an aneurysmal variant hepato-spleno-mesenteric trunk where the superior mesenteric artery was a large-caliber vessel that gave way to the common hepatic artery, splenic artery, and continued as the SMA.
