Aim. The article explores the problem of the psychological reality of the word form. Methodology. This approach involves the use of a complex of psycholinguistic, cognitive and linguistic “tools”: analysis of spontaneous speech word usage; longitudinal observations of children’s speech; modeling of associative fields as so individual word forms and grammatical paradigms based on experimental data. Results. It outlines a set of genetically early grammatical forms that the child learns in the process of speech and cognitive development, and forms that the child rarely uses at the early stages of the formation of grammatical competence. It has identified both the most frequent word forms, which form the core of the language system and bear the main speech load at further stages of speech development, and “lacuna” in grammatical paradigms, which the speaker does not use in spontaneous speech activity. Research implications. The results of the research can be used to develop an active grammatical minimum (actual grammaticon) for teaching Russian, which is intended to significantly change the formal and logical procedures that are used in existing methods of studying grammar.
