The approaches to the stratification of the country’s population used today by the scientific community do not make it possible to determine the integrated position of an individual in Russian society - an individual who occupies a high place in one of the stratifications may be at a low level in other stratifications. For example, a representative of the “higher” echelon of the scientific community in terms of material indicators may be significantly lower than a middle-level entrepreneur. Our developed methodology and classification of the population social habitus makes it possible to form its habitual structure, which is unifying in relation to most of the existing stratifications. Taking into account the fact that the habitus is a practically unchanged value, it becomes possible to determine and predict the proportion of the population that performs the function of stabilizing society, which can become a clarifying alternative to the current calculations of this population category through belonging to the middle class. The purpose of the study is to determine the habitual structure of the Kaliningrad region population. The theoretical basis of the study is the theory of social space by P. Bourdieu. The determination of social habitus was made on the basis of the author’s approach, which consists in determining social habitus by comparing the main disposition direction of the respondents and their effective capital. Main results: The existing habitual structure of the Kaliningrad region population to smooth forward movement in the socio-economic development of the region. The performed calculations, based on the population habitual structure, showed that fifty-five percent of the region’s population has the function of society social stabilization; forty-five percent are negative or neutral.
