The South Moravian Lignite Coalfield and method of its digital modeling

Abstract

The contribution methodical procedures of modeling and assessing the deposits in the South Moravian Lignite Coalfield, applied in the frame of solution of the Grant Agency of the Czech Republic project No. 105/06/1264, are presented. The South Moravian Lignite Coalfield is a territory of the Vienna Basin in the Czech Republic where the Kyjov lignite seam (Pannonian B) or the Dubňany Seam (Pannonian F) occur. Digital model of the seams will be applied for comprehensive assessing of lignite deposit, for determination of its morphology and of distribution of particular deposit attributes. The basis of solution is the deposit database with all necessary data supplemented with data on uniformly re-assessed lignite balance sections in the boreholes. Mathematical, statistical, geostatistical and graphic methods are applied for processing and graphic representation of data.
