Discourses on Open Access by chilean scientists

Abstract

this research explores the discourses on the circuit of production and circulation of scientific knowledge of consolidated Chilean academics through a qualitative study based on semi-structured interviews. It elaborates on the relationship with the national circuit of scientific journals and the discourses about Open Access journals. It is found that the publication in Open Access journals has characteristics that increases uncertainty in the construction of academic capital and that the structure of scientific production in Chile does not provide any incentive for researchers to change their established patterns of publication.
