Discursive bodies: a construction of motherhood in the Bianca Dias work
Abstract
In our research we tried to develop a perspective of analysis of the book Névoa e Assobio, of Bianca Dias with illustration of Julia Panadés, with the intention of reflecting about the discursive construction of motherhood and its relations with mourning and melancholy. For the development of our considerations, we are mainly based on the works of Mikhail Bakhtin (for the study of narrative and discursive functioning from the point of view of dialogic enunciation) and Sigmund Freud (to study the concept of subject, mourning and melancholy in the psychoanalytic view). Although Bakhtin and Freud are considered, by an expressive part of the critic, as incompatible, we sought to articulate the two authors in different aspects of our study, safeguarding the differences between the both. In this perspective, the book in question is configured as a kind of diary, in which the enunciator portrays, in an emotional way, episodes of her life. The episodes focus on the experience of losing a child, evidencing the suffering (mourning) through which the enunciator passes. Thus, the way the episodes are narrated demonstrate a construction surrounding the image of the maternal figure, contributing to the discursive construction of the effects of complexity that would be inherent to motherhood.
