Newspaper "Dіlo" 1900-1901 yy. as a source of study of the language problem in western Ukraine at the beginning of the twentieth century

Abstract

The article deals with the publication in the «Dіlo» newspaper for the 1900-1901 biennium. Relating to the language problem in Western Ukraine in the early twentieth century. Some of the material is devoted to the Ukrainian state schools, primary education, the importance of use of the Ukrainian language as the primary in the learning process. A number of publications addresses the problems of teachers who know the Ukrainian language. The problems of the informal ban Ukrainian language in schools, government offices, as well as illegal harassment Ukrainians, their language and culture of the total material are distinguished publications devoted to Ukrainian spelling, on the influence of the Ukrainian language into the other languages of the Western Ukraine, in particular the Romanian. Considered publications suggest that the newspaper «Dіlo» is an important source of studying the history of the Ukrainian language and the language issue in Western Ukraine in the early twentieth century.
