CAVALLI, GIRAFFE E ALTRI ANIMALI. LA QUESTIONE ANIMALE FRA ANTROPOLOGIA, PSICOANALISI E ARCHEOLOGIA

Abstract

The essay analyses the issue of the animal in several respects: biological (Bolk, Von Uexküll), anthropological (Gehlen), philosophical (Bentham, Heidegger, Derrida, Foucault) and psychoanalytic (Freud, Lacan). The thesis of the essay is that the primacy accorded to man in the Western tradition cannot be defeated by adopting the approach “animal rights”; it is necessary to change the classification criteria instead. In order to achieve these new criteria, the Theories of Derrida and Foucault are decisive.
