Abstract

The article contains a transcription of the manuscript Abusos de comedias y tragedias, arguably the earliest treatise in Spanish on the moral controversy concerning theatrical performances. Authorities used by the treatise’s author to back up his opinions are located in notes. The transcription of the text is preceded by an introduction outlining and assessing the content of the treatise.
