Abstract
He presents Portugal as a pioneer in making his literary censorship model for Europe. It focuses on the policy developed to achieve this goal through prevention, co-optation and repression. It addresses the anticipation of the Portuguese nation in creating mechanisms for intellectual development before the installation of the Inquisition and the Trento Council.
