Juan Paul Forner in the gaditana controversy of "El filósofo enamorado" (The Philosopher in Love)

Abstract

This article rescues from oblivion the texts, by Forner and his adversaries and defenders, which were printed and made known throughout the controversy unleashed by the Cádiz revival, at the Teatro Principal, of the comedy La escuela de la amistad o El Filósofo enamorado (The School of Friendship or The Philosopher in Love). Writings in critical edition, with exclusively textual notes, are included. The first part of this article deals with the history of the controversy in which the texts are framed. With our work, we have once again sought to contribute to improving the knowledge we have today of the written production bequeathed by Forner to posterity, and to disseminate it among current interested readers.
