Historical development of forestry education in the context of forest resources management in Turkey
Abstract
The beginning of forestry education in Turkey dates back to the second half of the 19th century. Initially the French were predominantly seen to be the experts in forestry education. By 1910, when the Forestry High School opened, the Austrian and German nations became the leading experts. The first half of the 20th century was established as a forest faculty. In this study forest policies followed in Turkey, institutional developments experienced in the context of these policies, institutional and philosophical responses demonstrated by forestry education to these developments was examined.
