This vignette explores why exposure to global literature is a powerful way in which students can gain direction and personal insight for their futures in a global world. Learning about other cultures and exploring new ideas and prospects makes them aware of options that would not have existed to them otherwise. Global texts are used to appeal to students' interests and abilities to help them step beyond generalizations and stereotypes and toward a deeper understanding of differences.
