Developing the Grain Economy Potential as the Basis of Competitiveness of the Agrarian Economy of Region
Abstract
The article explores the development of the potential of grain economy of Podillya economic region; outlines a range of topical issues related to organizational and economic principles of increasing the level of competitiveness of the grain sector of the region and improving the economic-financial results; analyzes the current status of grain production in the region; identifies the reasons for the low level of development of the industry. The tendency of increasing grain production in Podillya economic region, which occurred mainly due to increased yield of grain and leguminous crops, is identified. The yield indicators in the region are higher than average yield indicators in Ukraine. On the basis of the carried out research, ways to increase the economic efficiency of grain production in the region are proposed. It is found out that further development and effective functioning of grain producing enterprises in the region, as well as in Ukraine in general, depend on: substantiation of organizational-economic principles of their development; creation of proper legal and regulatory frameworks; efficient use of available resources; increasing the level of fund supply and the capital-labor ratio on an innovative basis; use of innovative resource-saving technologies of grain cultivation and storage; concentration and intensification of grain cultivation; implementation of effective and flexible financial, credit and tax policies; protection and support of domestic producers; formation of a full-fledged infrastructure of the agrarian market. Prospect of further research in this direction is the analysis of the development of the potential of the grain economy of the region and increasing its competitiveness.
