Malignant atherosclerosis involving multiple vascular beds in familial homozygous hypercholesterolemia: Management strategies
Abstract
A 7year male with heart failure and hypercholesterolemia was found to have severe narrowing of abdominal aorta and proximal left anterior descending artery with left ventricular dysfunction. Apart from lipid-lowering therapy a staged balloon dilation of aorta and coronary intervention were done successfully. This case highlights the clinical spectrum of familial hypercholesterolemia and its management.
