Scientific production on Natural and Traditional Medicine in Cuban student scientific journals, 2014-2020

Background: student scientific journals show the research work developed by medical science students, hence the need to analyze the scientific production on Natural and Traditional Medicine in them and thus promote research related to this topic.Objective: to characterize the scientific production on Natural and Traditional Medicine in Cuban student scientific journals between January 2014 and July 2020.Methods: a bibliometric study of the scientific production declared in the objective was carried out, with 17 articles found. The following variables were assessed: journal, number of authors, province and country of the first author, language, type of article, bibliographic references, updating degree of bibliographic references according to Price's index, citations and number of corrected citations. Descriptive statistics was used.Results: the highest scientific production was found in the Revista 16 de Abril (29,41 %). Articles with 3 or 4 authors predominated (29,41 %), 23,53 % of the articles came from the province of Granma, only one had a foreign authorship and one was published in English. The mean number of references was 17,88. Price's index in the articles ranged between 0,36 and 1. Only two articles were cited (11,76 %).Conclusions: the scientific production on Natural and Traditional Medicine in student scientific journals in the period studied was scarce, as was the number of citations received.
