Abstract

The article presents an analysis of innovative activity in the service sector enterprises by the level of knowledge intensity. The analysis is based on the results of research conducted on the service sector enterprises in the Lodz region. Tested entities were divided into two groups. The first is the companies performing knowledge – intensive services (KIS), the second group includes companies providing less knowledge-intensive services (LKIS). The analysis and evaluation of innovative activity confirms the importance of innovation for the development of these enterprises, in particular for the companies representing the knowledge-intensive services. In addition, these companies are much more willing to implement product and process innovations, and more often, conduct their own R&D activity which promotes innovation in these areas.
