The relationship of ethical observance of nurses with quality of care from patient’s point of view

Background and aims: The increasing development of quality-oriented in hygiene is the result of continuly interaction of patients’ expectation of representing service quality. It is true that majority of nurses are aware of ethical demention, but the main challenge is its performance in the face of patients. This study was aimed to determine the ethical professional relation with the quality of care from the view of patients. Methods: In this crossectional descriptive study, 210 hospitalized patients were participated from different wards from 5 hospitals in Shahid Beheshti University by convenience sampling from 2014-2015. Data were collected using standard professional ethical questionnaire made by researcher and Qualpex questionarie. Validity and reliability of questionaries was confirmed. Data were analyzed using SPSS and descriptive and analytical (Spearman) statistics (P=0.068). Results: According to the present results, 37.4% of patients evaluated suitable this nursing care quality in the psycology–social dimention, 38.8% in the physical and 41.3% in the communication dimension. 48.73% of patients analyzed nurse’s performances in professional ethic at good level. There is no correlation between the quality of caring and professional ethical (P=0.068). Conclusion: The professional ethic standards and caring quality should be evaluated in the client-centered way. So, it is essential to routine programs in the field of professional ethical nursing importance.
