In all the three religion of Islam, Christianity and Judaism, tradition along with the Holy Scripture is of authority for belief and deeds of the faithful. However the authority of tradition has been denied, restricted or degraded by some groups. In this article different approach toward tradition in all these three religions has been classified and studied. Concerning the relation between Quran and hadith, different positions has been taken:, some have denied any role for tradition, while the pros themselves have been divided: various have restricted its role to the interpretation of Quran, while others consider it as a detailed commentary for Quran and some consider it next to Quran and even permit its abrogation of quran. Concerning the Holy book of non-muslims, the majority of the jewish scholars believe in oral inscriptions along with the written one (Torah). Christians also consider tradition both as an interpreter and an independent source for a number of teachings for which there is no trace in the Holy book.
