Destrutturazione e ricostruzione: Le riforme dell’amministrazione marittima del Regno di Sardegna dopo il Congresso di Vienna (1815-1819)
Abstract
The present work, the result of extensive archival research and analysis of numerous works related to the maritime history of the House of Savoy during the chronological period of the early Modern Age, contains a preliminary study on the reconstruction of the Savoy Navy in the years immediately following the end of the Napoleonic Era and the Congress of Vienna. The acquisition of the territories once belonged to the former Republic of Genoa laid the foundations for a general reorganization of the maritime administration of the Kingdom of Sardinia, as well as for the reconstruction of its naval forces according to new strategic needs, including protection of the Ligurian maritime trade and ability to project its naval power where needed. The reforms promoted by the restored Savoy government significantly modified the structure of the maritime administration, transforming it into an almost entirely new and much more complex organism compared to experiences from previous centuries.
