With the increasing demand for energy storage with large capacity and high power density, liquid-cooling energy storage has become the development trend of the industry. Featuring large capacity, large number of electrodes, and high system voltage, the liquid-cooling battery module makes higher demands on the battery management system in terms of battery data acquisition, system control management, and system operation and maintenance functions. This paper presents a battery management system based on a liquid-cooling integrated energy storage system. It introduces the communication architecture of the system and the design of management units at all levels and expounds the functional configuration of each unit. Four passive equalization schemes in the market are compared concerning their limitations. A passive equalization circuit is developed based on the external MOS to realize the equalization control and reduce the manual power supply. The proposed scheme has been applied to practical engineering. A complete data curve of the charging and discharging cycle has been obtained to verify the practicability of the system.
